Having worked within the accountancy profession since September 1987, I am a fellow of the Institute of Charted Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW).
Having previously worked for Griffins Accountants of Newbury as an employee managing the small business unit, on 1st July 2016 I joined Opus Accounting Limited as a shareholder and Director. I have been able to transfer my wealth of experience and knowledge to Opus Accounting including specialising in owner managed businesses, management information services and specialist VAT areas.
Outside of working hours I am a keen golfer and have been a member of Newbury & Crookham Golf Club for many years.
I have worked within the accounting function for over thirty years and am a Fellow of both the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).
In 1990 I joined a firm of practicing accountants in London’s West End where I was promoted to Practice Manager responsible not only for a portfolio of clients but also the day to day smooth running of the office. In 2005, I set up Coombs and Company, my own practice based in Newbury. Included within my varied portfolio of clients are a number of art dealers some of whom I have worked with for nearly thirty years. In consequence I have an in depth knowledge, especially from a VAT perspective, in this complex field.
In 2010 I co-founded Opus Accounting Ltd. This brought together three businesses offering an end to end service for our clients.
When I am not working I am a keen Badminton player playing regularly in the local league. I am also a qualified coach and Treasurer of my club and Chair of the Newbury and District Badminton Association.
