The following has been taken from HMRC Website:
"HMRC has recently introduced the new National Insurance and PAYE Service (NPS) which we are using to issue tax coding notices for the first time. The transition to the new system has brought to light some discrepancies in our existing records and this is resulting in a number of incorrect Coding Notices being issued."
You can read more about Tax Codes by visiting HMRC website following this link: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/incometax/tax-codes.htm
Although HMRC has previously advised that they hoped to issue corrected notices prior to the commencement of the new tax year, we have heard of a number of instances where excessive tax has been deducted during April as employers have calculated deductions based upon incorrect coding notifications.
We suggest you check your payslip very carefully and if you are concerned that your tax code may be incorrect contact your HMRC Tax Office to discuss the matter. Alternatively contact us using the CONTACT tab above and one of our friendly team will be happy take a quick look at your situation and advise you accordingly.
